Places To Visit In Patmos,Greece

Patmos is famous for its religious past and is known as the place where Saint John wrote the book of revelation – The Apocalypse. A stunning island that offers spiritual vibes, and has become a popular destination for pilgrims coming to visit the Cave of Apocalypse and the Monastery of Saint John.

 

Apart from these two monuments, the island offers gorgeous and calm beaches, some of which are open and in view; while others are secluded and offer a more sensual experience. The Monastery of Saint John

Set on top of the hill the monastery of saint john is one of the most important religious centers in Greece. The Orthodox Monastery is a beautiful sight and offers a gorgeous view from the top, and even when you look at the Monastery from the bottom. A surreal healing aura surrounds the Monastery, spreading wide and far from the ancient temple.

 

The Cave of Apocalypse

According to sources Apostle John wrote the book of Revelations in the Cave of Apocalypse. Inspired by God the book holds his teachings and ways. What was once a cave is now a monastery, that houses many religious beings. Set around the cave the monastery is a simple stunner that features a humble note.

 

Arki & Marathi Islands

These two remote islands can easily be accessed via boat, and are home to small groups. Mostly known for their crystal blue beaches, and minimal traffic towns. Offering you a secluded experience that is hard to resist when looking to relax and kick back for the day.

 

The Monastery of Zoodochos Pighi

An all female monastery that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Located close to Saint John Monastery, it is home to women from all around Greece, offering them a safe space to learn and practice the ways set by God.

 

Agathonisi Island

The northernmost island of Dodecanese, a tiny place where you will only find a few locals. Along with limited tourist amenities, the island offers you a true locals experience. If you are looking for a way to cut yourself away from the world, and enjoy a day of peaceful bliss then Agathonisi island is the place for you.

 

Church of Evangelistria

Located in the village of Kambos, the church of Evangelistria is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. A classic all-white Greek church that showcases some stunning handmade frescoes inside, along with rare icons you will not find anywhere in the world.

 

Patmian Ecclesiastic School

Patmian school is located near the cave of Apocalypse and is considered to be the General School of The Nation back in the 18th Century. The school has seen some great years and is a true historic agent in Ko.
