Places To See When Visiting Kos, Greece

Located 4km from Turkey Kos is the third largest Greek island. Worked as a key administrative center back during Roman times the island still showcases the spectacular history and ancient ruins. Asklepion
Asklepion is the place where Hippocrates trained during the 5th Century BC and is located only a short ride away from Kos. The place was discovered in 1902 and has attracted endless tourists since. Raised above Kos plain Asklepion works as a sanctuary for the god of medicine.

Ancient Agora
Here you will find the social and commercial soil of Ancient Kos, located near the port the place is a short walk from the Nerantzia castle. Back then it was one of the largest Agoras in Greece and dates back to the 4th century BC. even after being hit by earthquakes over and over again the securities and houses were rebuilt by locals. The oldest construction here uses limestone and is what helped identify the age of muddle ruins.

Hippocrates Garden
The Ancient House Hippocrates Garden is one of the cultural gems of Kos. Located in Mastichari, about 25 minutes drive from Kos Town, it is an exact replica of a traditional home from the fifth century BC.
The Ancient House Hippocrates Garden aims to raise awareness about the traditional Greek lifestyle, promoting tradition and heritage. It is not just a museum, but a cultural center, with educational events and workshops for all ages. It consists of three main areas: the traditional house, an exact replica of a settlement of the 5th century BC; the Philosopher Arcade, which is built traditionally, with handmade mosaics and copies of ancient artworks embossed in the walls; and the Dancing Satyrs Theater, and open air venue with a capacity of 80 seats, built of stone.

Casa Romana
A thirty-six room villa that was discovered back in 1930. Today the villas have been completely restored while offering you touches of domestic life dating back to 2000 years. Casa Romana is built around two peristyles and showcases stunning columns and a small atrium. Moreover, the house itself dates back to the 2nd century AD and is laid on the foundation of early residences. These residences are from the Hellenistic period, showing off a completely different base.

Palio Pili
We suggest you rent a car or AV to experience and take in different areas of the island. Around the island, you will find many delightful villages, historical sites, mountains, and even abandoned villages such as Palio Pili located on Mont Keio. While the empty village might not carry the charm anymore, back in the 11th century Palioto Pili was considered the capital of the island. Abandoned during the cholera epidemic, 1830; the mountaintop village is now a thing of the past.

Agios Stefanos Beach

Roman Odeon
Located on the southern outskirts is the Roman Odeon, an ancient city restored Odeon. Built back in the 2ind century AD the Roman Odeon is a music conservatory that is even used as a meeting place for the senate. Offering a covered setting for 740 individuals, divided over 14 rows showcasing stoned benches. However, the first nine rows at the front are crafted using marble and were reserved for city elites back in the day. After the elite system was excavated, the first nine rows were restored in 1929.

Tigaki Beach
Offering the town a fresh breeze and open view is the Tigaki beach located on the south coast of Ko. When standing on the shoes you can tell exactly why the locals love Ko, when compared to more busy islands. The beach showcases a long and broad offering warm and clear water to swim in during the summer season.

Archaeological Zone
At the intersection of the anxiety city, you will find a sprawling archaeological site. Here you will find surface dating back to the 3rd century, early-Christian basilicas, a gymnasium with 17 marble columns, and a stadium built during the 2nd century BC.
